Beaver Moon November 2024: Full Moon Meaning, Rituals, and Spiritual Significance
Peak Illumination: Friday, November 15, at 4:28 P.M. EST

What is the Beaver Moon?
This November’s Full Moon, known as the Beaver Moon, is named for the time when industrious beavers begin building their lodges and dams to prepare for winter’s cold. Like humans during winter, beavers do not hibernate but spend most of their time indoors, conserving energy and staying warm.
Native Americans named the November Full Moon the Beaver Moon as it coincided with the season for setting traps before ponds and rivers froze over. Beaver pelts, thickened for winter, were in prime condition during this time, making hunting more productive.
Other names for the November Full Moon include the Frost or Freezing Moon, named by Europeans to signify the first frost of the season. Some Native Americans called it the Whitefish Moon, as it’s the season when whitefish spawn. Others referred to it as the Digging Moon, honoring animals that begin burrowing into the earth to prepare for winter.
Adding to its significance, this year’s Beaver Moon is also a supermoon—the fourth and final of the year. Supermoons occur when the Moon’s orbit brings it closest to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter in the sky.
Spiritually, the Beaver Moon represents a time to prepare for life’s next phase by evaluating the physical and emotional resources needed for future challenges. Preparation also includes ensuring non-physical resources—such as supportive people, communities, and beliefs—are ready to sustain you.
Due to the longer, colder evening experienced during the Beaver Moon, it is an excellent time for mediumship communication with Ancestors as the Veil between our World and theirs is thinned.

Exercises / Rituals for the Beaver Moon
- Personal Growth Opportunities: As winter nears, consider a release ceremony to let go of what no longer serves your highest good. Write down any habits, fears, or emotions you’d like to release. Safely burn the paper, symbolizing their removal from your life.
- Set Seasonal Intentions: Write down intentions for the winter, focusing on self-care, finishing personal projects, and inner growth. When done, bury the paper beneath a tree, symbolizing growth during this dormant season.
- Daily Meditations: During meditation, focus on what you wish to “build” in your life and how you can strengthen its foundation to make it a reality.
- Mediumship: With the Veil thin, this is an excellent time to communicate with the Spirit World.
- Psychic Readings: The full moon heightens intuition, making it an ideal time for psychic readings.
