Psychic Insights – Where Do Souls Go After Death?

I actively engage in various social media platforms and forums related to a variety of topics within the psychic, mediumship and paranormal fields.  Lately, I have noticed a significant uptick in the number of posts asking about the journey a soul takes upon death of the physical body.  Amidst differing viewpoints, I wanted to provide you with my understanding of the possible outcomes for the soul at the time of death.

A Typical Soul Transition Process

Based on the guidance I have received, there is an energetic connection between our souls and the physical body.  As the body begins to “terminate”, our soul begins to release this connection.  It is at this time, a portal is created and opened for the soul to begin to transition to a new energetic plane of existence.  This portal has been described in many way, most commonly a light source where family and friends who have gone before encouraging the soul to enter the light to reconnect.  Most often, the soul is so drawn to the light and the love emanating from the portal, transition is peaceful and effortless.

A vast majority of transitioned souls will enter The Soul Realm, which can be considered to be “Heaven”.  An energetic plane of absolute peace and love where our soul rests, heals and is further educated regarding life lessons.  In the soul realm, family and friends are reunited, spirit guides are found along with other high vibrational entities that we describe as “Angels”.

1. They do not know they have passed – This is a quite common occurrence.    Often happens with souls entering the transition due to a sudden violent event such as a car accident, heart attack, etc.

2. They do not understand unfolding events – I have also encountered this, especially with the elderly, who at the time of death suffered from mental medical issues (Alzheimer’s, dementia) or those who have been overmedicated for pain management.  As the person was affected at the end of life, they continue to suffer from a “brain fog.”

3. They choose not to transition – Some souls choose not to transition, desiring to remain on the Earthen Plane.  Many do not wish to leave their life, others are angry with God, remaining as an act of defiance. 

4. Some are plain scared of the process – Just as humans negatively react to emotionally demanding situations by “shutting down”, souls sometimes do the same and run from the Light. 

5. They do not know the transition process – Uninformed, these souls never knew what to do, rather than moving forward into the Light, they remain stuck.

6. Others fear what is to come in the afterlife – Souls who have perpetrated negative events during their lifetime may fear the consequences of their actions.  Rather than facing punishment, they choose not to transition.

When A Soul Chooses the Alternate Choice – Entering the Spirit Realm

Souls are bestowed with the gift of Free Will by God.  At death, the soul has the ability to choose to transition into the light or to remain where they are.  But why would a soul choose not to enter the light?    Through my work as a rescue medium, I have found there are several reasons:

So Where Are These Souls Located?

Souls who choose not to transition enter a realm located between the Earthen Realm (our physical world) and the Soul Realm (Heaven/the Afterlife).  This location I call the Spirit Realm.  Although the soul here has the opportunity to transition at any time, the longer they remain, the transitional light becomes dimmer, making the process of transitioning ever more difficult.

• These souls I believe are what we term ghosts.  They are in energetic form but in a lower vibrational level than souls within the Soul Realm.  These souls may remain in the spirit realm for a short period of time, up to many many years.

It is crucial note that the spirit realm is NOT a realm of punishment or Hell.

There are several books available that provide a more in-depth discussion of the transition process than this post allows for.  I also recommend researching the topic of Near-Death Experiences (NDE).  I particularly suggest the book “Proof of Heaven” written by Eben Alexander, M.D., a neurosurgeon who firsthand experienced an NDE.
