Why I Wrote a Book About What Happens After Death

What happens when I die?
Will I still be myself?
Will I see the people I love again?
Does my life have a purpose beyond the things I accomplish while I am here?
Most of us have asked at least one of these questions, even if we have never said it aloud. They cross cultures, religions, and generations because they touch something deeply human. Even when we are not consciously thinking about death, uncertainty about it can shape how we live.
I have carried these questions for much of my life. Eventually, guided by my spirit guides, I wrote Crossing the Threshold: How the Afterlife Teaches Us to Live with Love, Purpose, and Peace.
I Did Not Set Out to Write This Book
I never grew up expecting to become a psychic medium or rescue medium. I certainly never imagined I would one day write a book about the afterlife.
My experiences with the spirit world began in childhood. At four, I witnessed a radiant figure standing at the foot of my bed. As I grew older, other experiences followed. Some were comforting. Others frightened or confused me.
For many years, I tried to push them aside. I wanted an ordinary explanation and an ordinary life. I did not yet understand what I was experiencing or what I was supposed to do with it.
But the experiences continued.
Eventually, I had to stop running from them and begin learning to work with Spirit responsibly. I studied mediumship, worked with experienced teachers, and developed the discipline and discernment needed to understand what I was sensing.
That journey eventually led me to rescue mediumship.
The Work That Changed My Understanding
A rescue medium works with souls who appear to remain near the physical world after death. They may be confused, frightened, attached to a person or place, or unaware that their physical life has ended.
Rescue mediumship is not meant to frighten, confront, or force them. It is to communicate with compassion, help them understand their situation, and guide them toward the Light when they are ready.
Through this work, along with mediumship, visions, meditation, and spiritual guidance, I began noticing certain patterns.
The same questions appeared repeatedly. So did familiar expressions of love, fear, confusion, healing, and recognition. Individual experiences differed, but certain truths kept returning.
I began to wonder whether these experiences formed part of a larger picture.
At first, I didn’t think I would share that picture publicly. These were personal experiences, and many of them were difficult to put into words. I also understood that writing about the afterlife would invite questions, doubt, and disagreement.
But my spirit guides kept working with me. Through meditation, visions, and their patient guidance, they made it clear that these experiences and the knowledge they were providing were not meant to remain private. They encouraged me to bring what I had learned together and share it with others.
I did not simply decide that writing a book might be a good idea. Over time, I felt compelled to write it.
That guidance became the beginning of Crossing the Threshold.

Why I Felt Responsible for Writing It
Writing about death and the afterlife carries a responsibility.
No living person can place the full mystery of existence into a single book. I don’t claim to have every answer, and I am not asking readers to abandon their religious beliefs or accept everything I believe.
What I can do is share what I have experienced, what I have been shown, and the understanding that has developed through years of spiritual work.
As I wrote, I also considered teachings found within Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other spiritual traditions. These faiths differ in important ways, and those differences deserve respect. Yet across them, I found recurring questions about the soul, judgment, mercy, spiritual growth, and what may await us beyond physical life.
My intention was not to combine these traditions into one belief system. I wanted to consider whether the experiences I had been given might sit alongside the wisdom humanity has carried for centuries.
The result is not a demand for belief. It is an invitation to consider.
How Understanding What Happens After Death Changes the Way We Live
People naturally assume that a book about the afterlife must be primarily about death.
But as I wrote, something became increasingly clear to me. Our understanding of death affects how we live.
When death feels like complete erasure, fear can quietly become the narrator of our lives. We may cling too tightly, postpone what matters, avoid necessary changes, or measure our lives by things that cannot last.
But what if death is not erasure?
What if consciousness continues?
What if love is not destroyed when the physical body dies?
Even considering those possibilities can change how we see the time we have now.
The question is no longer only, “What will happen to me when I die?”
It also becomes, “How do I want to live while I am here?”
That is why I was guided to write this book.
I want readers to feel steadier when they think about death. I want them to consider that their lives may have meaning beyond what they can see right now. Most of all, I hope the book helps people love more openly, make choices more honestly, and recognize the importance of the life in front of them.
Who I Wrote This Book For
I wrote Crossing the Threshold for anyone who has quietly wondered what comes next.
It is for people who have lost someone they love and still feel the relationship continuing in ways they cannot easily explain.
It is for people who are spiritually curious but uncomfortable with rigid answers.
It is for those who believe deeply, question deeply, and move between belief and uncertainty.
It is also for people who are not presently facing death or grief but sense that understanding the larger journey might help them live with greater purpose now.
You do not need to agree with every conclusion in the book. I only ask that you approach it with an open mind and consider the experiences and perspectives for yourself.
An Invitation to Cross the Threshold
Writing this book required me to return to experiences I had spent years trying to understand. It asked me to put private spiritual encounters into words and accept that some readers would embrace them while others might question them.
My guides did not lead me to write this book to claim the final word on the afterlife. They guided me to share what I had been shown because fear of death is not limited to our final moments. It can follow us throughout our lives.
If understanding death can loosen that fear, perhaps we can become more present for the people we love. Perhaps we can forgive more readily, live more courageously, and stop postponing what matters most.
That is why I wrote Crossing the Threshold.
Not simply to describe what may await us after this life, but to help us recognize the meaning, responsibility, and possibility within the life we are living now.
