What Spirits See When They Look at Us: Your Light

Many people wonder what Spirit sees when they look at us.  Some worry they will be judged.  Others hope they will be seen and understood.  In my experience as a psychic medium and rescue medium, Spirit does see deeply, but not with criticism.

Spirit reads you through energy, not appearance.  Spirit notices your emotional truth, your intention, your boundaries, and the light inside you that keeps trying to come through, even during hard seasons.

This post will help you understand what Spirit tends to notice most clearly. It will give you a few grounded practices to help you feel calmer and more centered. These practices will aid you as you strengthen your connection.

Spirit Sees Energy First, Not Appearance

Humans often lead with the surface.  We notice clothes, posture, age, and expression.  Spirit does not connect to you that way.

Spirit connects through your energy signature.  That includes:

  • The emotional tone you are carrying
  • The openness of your heart
  • The steadiness of your intentions
  • The parts of you that are honest, even if you keep them hidden from others

This is why you can walk into a room and feel someone before they even speak. Energy communicates.

Simple practice

Place your hand on your chest and ask:

What am I broadcasting right now?

Do not judge the answer. Just notice it.

Spirit Feels Your Emotional Weather

Emotions are not just thoughts.  They are experiences that move through the body and your energetic field.  Spirit feels them clearly.

In my sessions, Spirit often responds to the emotional state underneath the words.  They feel:

  • Grief as tenderness, heaviness, or waves
  • Anxiety as tightness, urgency, or buzzing
  • Peace as softness and openness
  • Love as warmth, steadiness, and clarity

This does not mean Spirit avoids you when you are struggling.  It usually means they come closer, gently.

Your emotions can run high at times. A practical truth is that when this happens, it can be harder to recognize subtle communication.  Not because you are blocked, but because your system is already carrying so much.

A calm reset in under a minute

Try this:

1. Inhale slowly through your nose
2. Exhale longer than you inhale
3. Repeat 3 times

Then say quietly: I return to center.

Spirit Responds to What Is Real

One of the most freeing truths is that Spirit does not connect through performance.  Spirit connects through authenticity.

You do not need perfect words.  You do not need a perfect meditation.  You do not need to look spiritual.

Spirit responds to what is true inside you.

This is why someone can say a prayer that is messy, emotional, and simple, and still feel Spirit immediately.  Truth opens the door.

    Mini practice

    Ask yourself:

What do I actually feel underneath everything?

Name it softly. Then offer it compassion rather than pushing it away.

    Your Boundaries Are Visible

This surprises many people.  In my experience, Spirit can perceive boundaries clearly.

Boundaries are not harsh.  They are clarity.

    When your energy says:

    • Only loving energies may come close
    • Come gently
    • Not right now
    • You may not disrupt my home or sleep

    Spirit recognizes it.

If you are sensitive, boundaries are not optional.  They keep you grounded, clear, and safe.

    A simple bedtime boundary

    Before sleep, say:

Only loving, healed energies are allowed near me.  Everything else must go.

Then imagine a soft outline of light around your body.

A candle surrounded by a circle of salt, symbolizing clear energetic boundaries and spiritual protection.

Spirit Sees Your Light Trying to Come Through

If I could reduce it to one sentence:

Spirit sees your light even when you forget it’s there.

    Even when you are exhausted.

    Even when you are grieving.

Even when you are doubting yourself.

    Your light might look like:

    • the way you keep going
    • the way you love
    • the way you want to heal
    • the way you are learning to choose peace

And sometimes Spirit comes close for one reason only: to remind you that you are still connected.

    A gentle invitation

If you want a connection without pressure, try:

“If you’re near, please come gently.”

Then watch the next few days.  Not with obsession, but with openness.

Spirit communication often appears as everyday signs. It can be a song at the right moment, a light flicker, a phone glitch, or a perfectly timed message. If you want to explore that more, read: Signs From Loved Ones: Phones, Songs, and Lights.

A Simple Weekly Practice to Strengthen Discernment

Here is a grounded rhythm you can repeat this week:

Morning: What is my emotional weather today?
Midday: Three slow breaths, longer exhale
Night: Close your space with a boundary statement

Consistency is what builds clarity over time.

    A Gentle Note About Readings

If you have been feeling emotionally overloaded, a session can help you find clarity. It can also assist if you are spiritually opened or unsure of what you are sensing. It provides clarity without fear.

A reading is not about forcing communication. It is about grounding, discernment, and reconnecting you to what is true.

    FAQs

    Do spirits judge us?

In my experience, no. Spirit sees truth and growth.  Spirit does not relate to you through shame.

Why do I feel more open at night?

Night is quieter.  Your mind is less distracted, so sensitivity can feel stronger.  A bedtime closing practice helps.

How do I know if it is Spirit or my anxiety?

A simple guideline is this: Spirit tends to feel calm and steady.  Anxiety tends to feel urgent and repetitive.  Discernment improves with grounding and consistency.

    Final Thoughts

If you take one thing from this post, let it be this:

Spirit does not see you as a list of flaws. Spirit sees your light trying to come through.

Stay grounded. Stay discerning. Be kind to yourself while you grow.

When you’re emotionally activated, grounding can help you return to center and improve discernment. Here’s a solid guide: NCBI overview of grounding skills.
